L7-N-R2000 TM Unifi Router So Weak Wireless

The L7-N-R2000 aka DIR-614 is a wireless N router substitute to D-Link DIR-615 by TM for Unifi subscribers whether it is a customize firmware or alike supplied by L7 Networks a company base in Taiwan who's products are available to corporations, e-businesses, web hosting companies and service providers. Its partners include hardware manufacturers, OEMs, distributors such as D-Link.

The L7-N-R2000 is a wireless N router aka DIR-614 the problem with this device is the wireless connectivity is so weak, according to LowYat forumer FlamingYu this router will always fail its wireless connectivity during night time.
Which router should I get for Unifi? Trying to replace the TM router.
Currently using the router provided by TM, L7 Networks L7-N-R2000.

1) And it is normal that wireless is weak at night?
Either the router lousy or . . .?

2) Does running Hypptv slow down connectivity?

Thanks.

The best remedy to the wireless N router L7-N-R2000 aka DIR-614 provided by TM for Unifi subscriber user is to re-flashed this with DD-Wrt, OpenWrt or Tomato by Shibby firmware if you do not want to spend on buying another wireless N router.

The L7-N-R2000 from L7 Network Technology is also known as (aka) DIR-614 you can check this post is a clone indeed of D-Link DIR-615 the difference is the firmware is being customized.

The main reason it seems weak at night is due to bug in the firmware that no matter what channel you use, it still using channel 4 (at least on the one me & neighbours had). Imagine 5 neighbouring wifi networks using the same channel during peak hours, everyone downloading or streaming videos. Of course it will be slow even when the signal strength is good.

You can re-flash it with DD-wrt, openWrt or Tomato in reference to D-Link DIR-615 that is if you don't want to spent buying other wireless N as an alternative.

how to ensure the firmware is D3 ?

@ iRviNe : caution! you can check the hardware by opening the case, the L7 NR 2000 router is identical to d-link dir-615 wireless router except the version, but it also a clone of d-link dir-615 only rebranded by L7 Technolgies for cheaper cost for Telekom Malaysia. hope will helps you.

Hi All,

I have this router-L7NR2000 when I signed up for TM VIP5 package. I did some research and found out that this router is using REALTEK chipset. As you probably know, REALTEK chipsets are 1 of those chipsets(and also Marvell and Ubicom) which are not supported by 3rd party firmware, like OpenWRT and DD-WRT. So my message here is that you cannot UPGRADE it with 3rd party firmware, and FULL stop.

But on another matter, does the is router supports VLAN? I thought it does? But I couldn't find anything about VLAN settings on the router interface.

it depends on the hardware version the L7-NR2000 aka DIR-614 is a clone of D-Link DIR-615 likewise there is DIR-615 with different chipset that can NOT be re-flashed with 3rd party firmware, if you are lucky found that is identical to D-Link DIR-615 then you are fortunate to flashed it.

I got this router for my unifi and now
all the android device in the house can't connect to the L7-N-R2000.
its show status disabled.

So weird la.
Other device ok. Laptop, iphone..
Any ideas why android device cannot connect?

@ Mohammad Audi :

klau lain device tak boleh masuk beli lain WiFi router la! hehehe

I guess your alternative option is to change the authentication e.g. from WPA(aes/tkip) or WPA to WEP make sure your android phone device have the same authentication. that will works!

# yes, its in the DD-wrt site which is identical to D-Link same hardware.

@jonathan, I got this brand and model of router ( L7 N-R2000), windows 7 can not see the SSID but winXP OS can see from the list of SSID nearby. I tried to change the authentication but still can not be seen from Win7 OS.

@ Clark Jr. Gabuat :

You can re-flashed it with 3rd party firmware such as DD-Wrt, if you have hard time in doing so just make this as bridge and add Wireless router.

May i know which is the suitable firmware for my l7-N-R2000
I tried a few firmware but it keep showing:
"The uploaded firmware file may not be correct. You may have uploaded a file that is not intended for this device, or the uploaded file may be corrupted.

If the uploaded file is correct, it is possible that the device may be too busy to properly receive it right now. In this case, please try the upload again. It is also possible that you are logged in as a 'user' instead of an 'admin' - only administrators can upload new firmware.

The Gateway will not be reprogrammed."

Please help, TQ!

@BMES :

First of all take a look at my tools for debricking any embedded device or wireless router.

http://pakitong.blogspot.com/2013/06/huawei-echolife-bm622-repair-blank-wan.html

DD-Wrt is best third party firmware for l7-N-R2000 aka DIR-614 this is also identical to D-Link DIR-615, please check your hardware version this may vary accordingly and flash it with the correct DD-Wrt firmware if you are planning it. Fail to do so that will cause your device bricked unless you have the above tools as mine were you can just repair it by hand.
