How to speed up your Smartbro internet connection and make your broadband load faster? The solutions are in this hub. The thing is the canopy IP address is no longer 169.254.1.1. This article is the latest. Unless you’re not in 2013.
There comes the day when your Smartbro connection just goes crappy and slow. One of the things I hate is a slow broadband connection because I use the internet like everyday. A limited connection sucks, too. Intermittent (on and off) connection is worse. No connection at all is the worst dilemma. It also means calling the tech support or customer service agent, which I find so annoying. Well, I am annoying and they are. lol Before I discuss the steps on how to speed up your slow smart bro internet connection, know the reasons and causes of slow broadband connection. And they are:
- Slow computer – so check your system’s memory and disk space. Dump all the unnecessary files. I recommend doing all these tips from a hub of my smart CiscoPixie.
- Antenna errors - check if your antenna is facing the server's satellite signal. If not then, you need to turn it around GENTLY. Check if there are loose circuits attached to it.
- Virus and Cookies – you might want to update your lame anti-virus software.
- Wrong router settings – double check your router settings. Oftentimes the problem is there.
- Unplugged circuits –check all the internet ports, WAN, LAN and all.
- Server is down – sometimes Smart server unit in your area reboots so it takes an hour to have a fast connection again. If you still have no connection, something is really wrong.
- Unpaid internet bills. – they have the right to disconnect you if you don’t pay on time.
- Slow internet browser – switch to Google Chrome. It’s damn faster! You need a really fast browser.
First step: Know your SmartBro Canopy IP address. If you’ve browsed around the net, you might have found out that Smartbro Canopy was like 169.254.1.1 but that was 2007 dear lord. And then one site says it’s 169.254.1.2 or 3.3. The thing is no other site could give your exact canopy address except Smartbro itself. The latest subscribers’s canopy address starts with 10 and it has the format of 10.xxx.xx.xxx. That’s what it is for the 999 subscribers. Going to the command prompt and typing cmd.exe won’t give you your canopy address anymore. There’s no other way to know and get your canopy than to request a technician from Smart Bro and wait for him to set up and reboot your canopy configuration. You can then retrieve the URL and address in your browser. Save the thing, write it in a paper and keep it for future needs.
Second step: (If you’re not using a router, proceed to step 3) Disconnect Smartbro from the router and connect it to your main computer.Go to Control Panel, and then onto Network Connections. You should see your Local Area Connection. Right click on it and click Properties. A new window pops-up, which says "Local Area Connection Properties". On the General tab, there should be a box which contains a list with checkboxes beside them. Scroll down to the bottom and you should see the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item. Double click it. Under "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties", you will see Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically. Choose and tick Use the following IP address and enter these data: IP address: 10.20.30.40 - Subnet mask: 255.0.0.0 and the rest, leave them blank. Click OK.
Take note you will see your internet connection icon marked with red x now. Yup, you are out of connection but it will be back later once you accessed your canopy and rebooted it.
Third step: Go to your web browser and type your canopy address URL. It’s like in this format: http:// 10.521.34.878 (This is just an example. You know your own canopy IP address by this time.
Fourth step: Once you’re in the Canopy page, you can then reboot. I suggest you don’t change a thing coz you might have a bigger problem. It is your choice to change and configure the settings like your uplink and downlink values and other ranges. The thing is, nobody knows what they mean and how they work. To be certain, just ask an expert and the smartbro technicians could and couldn’t say the real figures that work. Often times they are more clueless than you are LOL. So it’s just up to you. Rebooting the thing will make your connection work again anyway. I tried it and it works for me. All you need to do is to REBOOT.
Fifth step: After Rebooting, go back to your "Local Area Connection Properties" like what you’ve done in step 2. click on Obtain IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server automatically. Press Ok. Wait for a moment. Then your connection is back.
Sixth step: Restart your computer. Click your Internet browser. Smartbro Portal will then appear. Follow the steps until you’re internet is active again.
Last step: Connect your Smartbro to your router. Go to your browser and type your router’s address. Usually it is 192.168.1.1. Click ‘admin’ in the user name and password. Change the IP address from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.2 or whatever your router manual tells you.

@ JustRussel Rivera: The old tricks is no longer useful, another way to be able to login your SmartBro Canopy is by setting static IP address 10.20.30.40 Subnet 255.0.0.0 let assume that this is your Canopy MAC-ESN 0a-00-3e-fc-e5-33 you'll only need the last six hex e.g. fc-e5-33 then convert this hex to decimal (fc-e5-33 answer 252.229.51) by using accesories calculator your M$ Windows has it, so you SmartBro Canopy would be 10.252.229.51 hope this will help you.

@ keith : my advice is you have to call the smart center they are very helpful in resolving your issue. alternatively, this is if you are a techie then you can setup your SmartBro Motorola Canopy.

Hello sir! ung smart canopy ko super slow kng mag download ako hanggang 22kbps lng pero nka plan 999 po ako panu kopo mapapabilis ang net ko, at tsaka anu po tong "FAIR USAGE POLICY" ng smart di kopa po to na experience 4 months before tapos ganito na mga 1 week na kung nagtitiis dito. paki HELP PLZ!
@ Kogurai Kun : Sa pagkakalam ko ang plan999 ay 2Mbps at 24months lock period. So pag naka 2Mbps aggregate ka dapat mabilis yan sa 22kbps at kung tutuusin makapag YouTube ka din. Maaaring di naka maximize ang speed mo doon sa SmartBro Motorola Canopy interface QoS, maaari din yung sa Signal Alignment weak ang signal atleast 75dBm 2-3 jitter. Sa experienced ko kahit yung Signal ng Canopy antenna ko ay nasa 76-77dBm as long as 0-2jitter smooth parin ang connection ko. Ang option itawag mo sa SmartBro CSR friendly naman sila lahat para magpadal sila ng Technician jan sa bahay mo, alternative option pede mo buksan ang GUI(graphical user interface) ng SmartBro Motorola Canopy minsan open ito at wala username password, kadalasan ang username sbro-installer at minsan naman smartbro-admin paalaala ang maling kalikut sa mga setting sa gui maaring madisconnect ang cannopy mo sa network at mawalan ka tuluyan ng internet but this can be fixed. sana makatulong sa iyo.

Problem ko is di ko alam ang canopy IP address ko. March or April 2011 kami nag subscribe sa Smartbro, I tried 169.254.1.1(<--Im curious isn't that known as APIPA?) pero di ko ma access.
So I was thinking of going to Smart service center, go to customer rep desk,ask first about account status, then why net speed is slow AND THEN ASK for a technician to tell me my canopy IP address. Suspicious ba or ok lang? baka magduda eh tapos e momonitor yung Smartbro connection ko tapos e rereport na I tweaked the net connection. Lol parang paranoid na ako ah lol.

hi sir. my connection recently got reinstalled kasi pinaayos bubong namin. working kapag direkta sa laptop pero pag ikabit sa router may wifi signal but no internet access. i think tama naman config ng router ko kasi gumagana naman prior to reinstallation. sabi nung router technician might be because 10mbps connection speed ko and not 100mbps. ayaw naman ireconfigure ni smart bro. can access my canopy IP address pero can't log-in. help please.
And nakalagay sa canopy page 10Base T Full Duplex. Yun ba yung setting na tinutukoy nung router technician? Pra kasing nagtuturuan Smart Bro and router kung sinong may problem tsk tsk

its me naka stand alone yung SmartBro Motorola Canopy Antenna directly connected sa PC/Laptop. So definitely meron kang internet ngayon at maka access sa internet.
Then, pag isaksak mo ito sa Router yung IP address ng LAN is 192.168.0.1 or any IP addresses will do. sa WAN dapat naka DHCP ang setting mo minsan ang ibang router automatically makukaha ng IP address yung iba naman kagaya ng OpenWrt dapat i-connect mo ito manually kung tama ang MAC address maka access ka sa net agad at kung ito naman ay mali magredirect ito sa SMartBro Login page.
Tanong lang po. Hindi po kasi ako maka login sa Canopy. Ang level ko lang po ay guest. Kapag naman po nag login ako ay nakalagay po ay "Unauthorized" at "blocked" daw po. Pano po kaya ako makaka login?

@ Chris Dizon : there are two version of Canopy Ethernet cable
First:
Canopy -> Ethernet Cable(black 15meters) -> AC/DC Adaptor PoE -> PC
Second:
Canopy -> Ethernet Cable(black less than 10Mtrs) -> White Conduit -> Ethernet Cable (white) -> AC/DC Adaptor PoE -> PC
These two above ay same/pareho lng; yung una straight yung pangalawa may extension.
Sa tingin ko yung Canopy at Adaptor power supply ay OK walang problema yan.
pra kaseng bumabagal net ko pag may extension pa sir., kaya rekta ko na., same as First connection n minention nyo po

@ Chris Dizon : ang alam ko yung Cat5 Ethernet cable ang maximum length is not more 100meters ito gagana from PC-Switch/Hub. sa case ng SmartBro Motorola Canopy kaya iniksi lamang sa 15meters or yung may white conduit dahilan inline yung powersupply (Power-over-Ethernet) kaya black cable ethernet gamit na heavy duty para yung 24Volts supply walang powerloss. In my case gumamit ako ng switch/Hub pra ma extend ko yung length ng Ethernet cable.
wow.. yun pla silbi nun @_@ akala ko nakaka affecto sa bilis ung mga putol [white conduit].. so much better po ba na gamitin ko ung black cable.

kung mghard reset ka dapat nasa desk mo yung Canopy, at kung balak mo mgupdate ng Canopy firmware magingat baka mabricked ang Canopy mo.
Maganda kung meron 7Mbps aggregate mas malaki ang bandwidth at balak ko din bumili ng 2nd hand.

Ang SmartBro Motorola Canopy ay Asynchronous connection there is no way na pede mo gawin 7Mbps yung Uplink and Downlink, ang remedy mo kung gusto mo mag 7Mbps downlink pede but yung Uplink dapat sa mga 1Mbps lng or 512K. swerte mo!

Michael Corcuera : baka pinalitan na yan ng mga malicious guy jan sa area nyo, ang madali gawin mo jan ay hard reset gamit ka ng 4pin telephone cord at i-ground, yun I am sure makapasok ka sa GUI na walang password at saka mo na din palitan ang password pra walang makapagpalit na ibang tao.

@ u Harder : hindi masyado clear yung situation mo, check mo muna kung may power yung AC/DC adator mo pra sa Canopy, usually napuputol na ang lock ng Canopy Ethernet Black cable at dapat ito idiin sa PoE pra magkaroon ng power ang Canopy mo, then yung AC/DA adaptor usually napuputol din ang lock kelangan mo din idiin ku i-plug yan sa PC/Laptop.

@ pugito : pede mo parin ma tweak ang QoS, kung na redirect ka sa portal page maari hindi mo pa nabayaran yung connection mo. Sa experienced ko hindi naman affected yung area ko sa fair usage policy.

ser i just found your blog by accident and through desperation na rin.
lately ang dl/upload speed ko is 200kb/40kb per second, pero bumagal ng sobra.. speedtest reports .18mbps for both dl and ul speeds. kinontact ko ung smarbro mismo and this is the first time na narinig ko ung fair usage policy (na alam natin lahat e unfair dahil walang prior notice).
anyway, mga 1 or 2 months ago nangyari din sakin to at sa isa kong friend, ang ginawa ko noon ay ini reboot ko lang ung canopy, tinanggal sa saksak and left it for around 10-15 mins, nirekta ko na ung connection sa pc ko and after logging in sa smarbro portal.. naging ok na ulit.
ngayon nangyari ulit, tinry ko gawin yung dati kaso ayaw na talaga. any thoughts?

nag install ako ng DDWRT sa modem ko kaya na mmonitor ko ang total upload and download sa internet namin. for April and May umaabot kami ng 150gb download a month ng walang problema, this June wala pang 50gb tapos ini limit na nila agad, dahil nalampasan na daw namin ung limit.

Ang advice ko sayo plug mo yung Canopy directa sa PC then open YouTube pag walang buffering meaning normal ang connection mo pag may lag or jitter sa video online malamang may problema ang connection mo for your info ang connection ko aggregate 2Mbps lng 2-laptop and 8-smartphone ang gumagamit maayos naman yung connection ko so far.

Wala tayo magawa monopolized tayo ng mga Telco's meaning whether we like it or not we have to accept it and beside wala din magawa ang batas natin. Like in my case nasa province ako now ang option ko lng ay SmartBro, 4G WiMAX is unreachable unlike sa city. But fortunately I don't experience capping or fair usage policy.
I don't encourage you to retaliate to those Telco's about their policies but you can there is a forum that will always support subscriber that has been cheated by their ISP.

Sir, clarify ko lang. yung black na parang RJ45 ang dulo na cable ng canopy ko eh dapat iconnect ko directly sa PC/laptop LAN port then run netcut? Nitry ko yun pero walang IP address na nakukuha kapag direct sa PC yung black na cable. Kapag yung white na parang adapter (kasama sa installation ng mybro) naman yung iconnect ko directly sa laptop (which is usually sa router ko nakaconnect directly, it gets an IP pero dunno how what to do with netcut. ano po ba settings na dapat gawin ko sa netcut and how to use it para makita ko yung mac address ng canopy ko?

makita mo lahat ang mga AP minsan 4-5 APs depende sa location or area mo minsan naman 6APs pa pero bihira lng.
una dapat 0 or 1 index lamang ang best napipiliin mo, then 0 or 1 Jitter lng din ang dapat gamitin mo, so meaning less Index and less Jitter ito ang pinaka best. Yung SectorUserCount: ok lng kahit may 180 subscriber walang problema.
In my case about signal strength 78dBM maayos parin ang connection ko kahit mag YouTube.

malamang madami malikot na kamay jan sa area nyo not in your house kundi yung jan sa lugar mo, inshort somebody is using your SmartBro Canopy ang hinala ko lng. check mo muna yung GUI kung makaka access ka pa will see. sarap ng connection mo 7Mbps yan din ina asam asam ko mapalitan tong Canopy Antenna ko.

3.Under Configuration go to Quality of Service, change the Values of MIR Bandwidth Settings ->Uplink Data Rate and Downlink Data Rate

The only problem with hard reset for me is that i have to go on the 2nd story roof every time and that's a REALLY BIG HASSLE. My net becomes slow whenever we max out the net according to the customer service. They implemented the new rule last april. Is there any other username/passwords i can use? yes, you have to hard reset it first then you can change your desired username and password so that you wouldn't be going to 2nd floor.

Yung nakukuha mong IP na 172.x.x.x ay VLAN ng Access Point (AP) ng Canopy gamit sa management at hindi yung IP address na bibigay ng ng Access Point kung saan pra maka acces ka sa internet. ang Canopy ay meron Tatlong IP address sa sarili nya. 10.x.x.x eto yung ESN/MAC kung kaan mo pede i-access yung motorola canopy for finetuning, setting etc. kung luma ang canopy malamang ang IP address ay 169.254.1.1 eto ay maaring din gamitin pra ma-access ang canopy.

Una sa lahat dapat i-secure mo yung SmartBro Motorola Canopy antenna mo dapat wlang ibang makaka pasok jan inshort that is accessible by other people(such anybody i.e. malicious person) via remote console kaya mina intermittent ang connection mo so may kaagaw at kahati ka jan sa area mo. sa other Telco's kasama ang Technician ng telco company ang malicious person kaya dapat secure. if secure na yan Canopy mo pede mo na yan i-retune ang setting i am sure wla na yang intermitent as long maayos yung LOS line-of-sight ng antenna.

sa akin 2Mbps lng connection ko sat 10 ang connected sa wifi ko ayos naman yung connection ko at hindi namn mabagal, advice ko sayo configure maayos ang setting ng router especially sa subnetting ng IP address mo.
yung aking mybro canopy may disruption sa online games kahit walang router na nakalagay lagi akong DC sa mga laro ko. Nung 7/22/13 lang kinabit at kinabukasan till now yan parin ang problema DC sa online games >.< lagi na ako 2matawag sa CS ng myBro pero ang sasabihin "realtime checked kasi ginagawa namin at ok naman ang signal so kindly monitor nalang muna" pero kapag ibang ISP ang gamit ko hindi naman nag d-DC pero laggg nga lang. at yung canopy address na naka save sa pc ko nung pag setup ng technical hindi naman gumagana hidi ako makapasok sa canopy page xD

Sir correction pala. Hindi stable yang index 1, jitter 2, 75 DBM. Pagdating ng mostly 11am to 11pm interminent na connection ko. Napansin ko rin pg minomonitor ko ung sa "Alignment Tool" section yung jitter naglalaro sa 2 to 4 and ung DBM ko 76 to 78. Luma parin antenna na gamit ko ung Motorola Canopy and i can access the 169.254.1.1. Or bka hindi to ung tunay na canopy ko? and Sir what do you think about my ip adress kasi 169.254.1.3 ung akin and sabi ng mga agents na nakakausap ko hindi daw valid ip address ko. My advice to you is first you must be sure that your SmartBro Motorola Canopy Antenna is being access only by you and no other person. FYI any device or gateway such as modem, cpe, router ever since the innovation had started and man made are prone to vulnerabilities inshort it is insecure in other words it is hackable. Even if you are affected by the socalled FUP still I am sure your net connection goes smooth, what happen to your internet connection my suspicion someone uses you account and the is possible, there are so many malicious person in your area not in your house. Take note the your SmartBro Kit can be access remotely.

ok lng yung index 1 & jitter 2 kahit -78dBm ok pa rin sa kaso ko di ako nakaranas ng intermittent. try mo mgscan ng AP yung less user count palit ka ng color code pra maiba yung AP mo. pagka tapos mo i retune yung SmartBro Canopy antenna mo dapat yung PC/Laptop mo ay nak DHCP pra makakuha ka ng IP address na may internet connection.
Naka submit na ako ng disconnection letter sa smart center kahapon at wala naman bayad sa 24Months lock in kasi yung agent nila nung pina-apply ako hindi pinakita sakin at hindi rin ako binigyan ng copy ng contract kasi pinuntahan lang ako ng agent sa bahay namin. At isa din sa dahilan ay hindi rin nagsabi ang agent sa akin na naka bandwidth capping na sila ang sinasabi lang is unlimited sila. Marami ng nagrequest disconnection sa myBro d2 sa province namin kasi nung Sunday mga 4 kami ang nag-request kasabay ko :D. Labag kasi sa law yan na sa mga advertising nakapublish Unlimited pero kapag naka apply kana saka muna malaman na may bandwidth capping pala xD giving amount of usage per month ay hindi na matatawag na unlimited yan!!!!

Yan ang dapat sana maipamahagi ito sa Facbook at magcapaign about FUP para matauhan itong mga Telco's company na ito. Sir yung smartbro canopy ko po is 7mbps agregate. nagtry po ako itweak yung QoS nya but ganun parin po yung net speed ko. ano po pa kaya pwede ko gawin para makakuha ng additional speed. parang kasama na po yung area ko sa may mga FUP. kasi po iisa nalang yun AP na gumagana dito sa area po namin.

Halos lahat nga area ngayon affected na din ng "Fair Usage Policy" although ito ay against sa NTC pero wla tyo magawa being as subscribers nitong mga Telco's company. Kung mapapansin mo wala ng SmartBro sa mga major cites or NCR ang Canopy sa probinsya na lamang at mga karatig na Isla ito ay dahilan maging obsolete na ang SmartBro Motorola Canopy fixed wirerless internet broadband, isa sa mga dahilan ay mababa ang bandwidth ng Canopy compare sa bagong nilang product myBro LTE & WiMAX kya pinopromote nila ito at tuluyan na iwanan ang Canopy dahilan din ito ay insecure inshort vulnerable sa makatuwid hackable at yan ay proven ng mga netizen kya yung ibang mga legit kadalsan nakakaranas ng intermittent connection.

Sir tanong lang sana ako. kakapa install ko palang ng smartbro canopy the other day. Ang usapan namin nung tech adjust daw nya ung speed para mas mabilis lagay lng daw ako 500. So pumayag ako.

Bro tlaga mahirap mghanap ng 6P6C, pero pede din ang telephone cord na may 4P4C, putulin lng ang cord yun ang gamitin mo pang jumper pra di kana bibili, hingi ka sa kapit bahay dami yan di ginagamit.

Maari yung Canopy antenna mo di pa na upgrade ang firmware kaya di nagbibigay ng tamang downlink&uplink. Yung 1Mbps na result sa speedtest nagbavary sa sa server or kasama na yung area mo sa FUP aka fair usage policy dahil gusto nila ma promote sa lugar nyo ang MyBro 4G WiMAX.

Hello, is there any way para makapag log in ako sa canopy ko? natry ko na admin/admin, admin/blank, root/blank, root/admin and all na combination nyan.. kakapaayos ko lang nung connection namin sa technician e mukhang nachange pass yata, not sure about this one.
