D-Link DIR-615 DD-WRT Firmware Flashing

Here I want to share an example of a D-Link DIR-615 how to flash the popular alternative DD-WRT router firmware. Basically, you should bring some experience in dealing with firmware updates. One of the golden rules: If you are not absolutely sure of what you're doing, leave it! I extended countless router with DD-WRT. Rarely there are problems. To destruction, it is not gone too! Check out the tutorial at your leisure. If you need help at some point, just let me know.

First, we determine if the existing model is at all compatible. In this case it is a D-Link DIR-615 router. We get the best data on the nameplate: Important here is the hardware version.

By knowing the hardware version of the D-Link DIR-615  we may now proceed to DD-Wrt database router and enter the last three characters of our model.

Here we must take special care to choose the correct hardware version! An incorrect version can possibly transform the barely functioning router into a paperweight 1A, inshort we may bricked the device by loading the improper firmware to D-Link DIR-615 !

There is a special version (initial flashing) for flashing the DD-Wrt firmware. If there is such a version for your model, choose the smallest existing version (size) of the DD-Wrt firmware. Save the file, and then we go. Open the web interface of your router. In the model shown here, D-Link, select the item maintenance / firmware update.

Next, "Select file" to the point, we open the saved firmware file.

Then, Select the previously saved firmware file and press Open.

By clicking "Upload" the flash starts. During the flash process, you should leave the router alone. Connect. Example to any network cables or pull out what

You see, as long as the flash process is running, a status page.

During Falshvorgangs not the current should be separated! This could mean the demise of the router.

After the end of the flash process, there is a error message in the browser. The dd-wrt firmware used in the standard configuration a different IP range.

Now we can use the router by entering the default DD-Wrt IP address http://192.168.1.1. We are asked to change the user name and password. In this example, the username "admin" and "+? / M3in-75" the password (without the ""). Then click on "Change Password".

myBro DV235T Green Packet Stock Firmware Snap Review

Recently I have just upgrade my 4G WiMAX wireless modem router myBro DV235T to Green Packet stock firmware. I just wanted to share this review using the default factory firmware instead the PLDT/Smart ISP customized firmware that has very limited user level privileges. Using the firmware v2.10.14-g1.0.4-gp you will be able to do what ever you wanted to do such as changing the WAN MAC address, port forwarding, DMZ etc.

What I love most having the stock firmware of Green Packet is that you are the admin, the root, the administrator of the device, you can customized your settings and your configuration without limits.

Here's just few of the screenshot taken by me that I wanted to share to all my guest, my commenter and likewise to those who eagerly wanted to tweak their new toy aka myBro DV235T.

This screenshot was grab from my Asus lappy, it only shows that myBro DV235T has been successfully change its WAN MAC address on this Green Packet stock firmware. All menus and sub-menu are now available, you can do what ever you want with your setting likewise configuration.

If you hate using the username and password as "admin" then you can now choose whatever username and password you wish, NTP server also is visible to edit if you need to synchronize you this CPE to other machine for special purposes it is now possible.

Your account is no longer locked by your ISP you can manually select the authentication of your username and password, setting the frequency  for best performance and optimizing your allotted bandwidth are even more possible that is if you want to test the 4G network in you area if you are really covered by many ISPs.

Tweakers will love this section since most of the sub-menus were being omitted on the customized myBro firmware, torrenting will play big role for those who are fun of downloading movies. You are all granted to port forward any ports inbound and outbound for any of your applications.

Protect and manage your 4G WiMAX wireless modem router CPE being updated the firmware over the air (OTA) by the system, deny or accept by enabling or disabling it. Not to mention other stuff such as SNMP, OMA-DM, Log, Ping if you want to test your connectivity to your ISP server. Upgrade and Recovery is also available to your to restore and upgrade with other firmware to the DV235T.

This features are not available on Huawei 4G WiMAX wireless broadband modem router, the Green Packet DV235T is capable of being a client and a server such as PPTP likewise L2TP, IPSEC or IP security is also added in this feature. Hopefully I could add the command line interface (cli) screenshot for the telnet and the ssh on my next post.

InFeCtuS: Versatile Modchip for Xbox360, PS3, PS2 and Wii

The InFeCtuS modchip has been in development for some time already back in December 2006. It's a versatile modchip that can be used for lots of things. On Xbox360 you can read/write/patch the DVD flash firmware or it can act like a Globe360 or NME 1.2 (soon) DVD FW modchip.

    From infectus.biz:
InFeCtuS is the first versatile modchip ever released in the market, created to work with many different consoles. InFeCtuS will give you access to so many features that it's impossible to describe them all today, some are still in development and more will come in the future, just stay tuned on www.infectus.biz
We developed this modchip with an OPEN concept, we use a CORE reprogrammable, a 512kb flash on board and an USB interface for the PC communication.

The hardware has a very HIGH QUALITY component design:
    • The core of INFECTUS is the new ACTEL ProASIC3 FAMILY, the new family after the famous APA075 used in the past in many PS2 projects.
    • We used a 512Kb parallel flash SSTSF040, with a high transfer rate and performance.
    • Finally, we have got a REAL USB2.0 processor. This high quality component can manage the communication between ACTEL and PC (mini usb connector).
    • All of the chip PLD/FLASH/USB parts are 100% reprogrammable via USB communication.
    • For security reasons, all of the applications stored in the flash are AES 128-bit encrypted, to protect our work against chinese market!
    • The project is produced in Europe with the last technology of BSDL testing.
Being InFeCtuS so versatile, we want to show you at least a little part of its features, ordered by console.

    XBOX360 SUPPORT:
    • Allows to gain total access over the XBOX360 flash driver, so that you can read and write the internal flash of any X360 DVD READER in the market. Everything can be managed with a very simple and user friendly PC software.
    • FLASH ID realtime patching, your xbox360 cannot understand if there is any flash running other than the original one.
    • GLOBE MODCHIP 360 100% emulation including ON / OFF LED
    • NME 1.2 firmware emulation (at work 80% finished). Allow you to install the chip with few wires like NME.
    PS3 SUPPORT:
    • The first work to be done is to allow our users to flash directly the PS3 BIOS by USB. So no more problem with firmwares, you can install everything you want, when you want. All the complications due to firmware versions that cannot be downgraded will not bother you anymore.
    • This solution will be released in the next 4 weeks!
    • Another new feature that we want to add is a REAL TIME patching of the firmware part that you want to be emulated from the chip. Being the 512Kb flash not enough to store a real dual firmware, we'll have to wait for the first hacked firmware to understand if a "realtime" patching will be possible. In case we won't be able to find more ideas, a new version of Infectus with a memory expantion bay will be released.
    PS2 SUPPORT:
    • Complete O2 MODCHIP emulation 100% with all functionalities (www.o2mod.com)
    Included for FREE
REMEMBER THAT O2 MOD IS THE ONLY ONE IN THE MARKET WITH "DNAS PATCH" AVAIABLE!!! DNAS PATCH IS NECESSARY TO HAVEN'T PROBLEMS IN ONLINE GAMING

    WII SUPPORT:
Of course this is a free "bonus" in this mod because, we know, most of You wouldn't install such a big and expensive chip on a WII, but being it free... it's a good chance!
    • WIIKEY / WIIFREE EMULATION: (under developement - 80% ready). This feature will allow you to play just everything you want on your WII.
    SOFTWARE MANAGEMENT:

The possibility to manage the features using an easy software is one of the BIG advantages of this modchip solution!
    • WIZARD help for the users: you will simply follow software's instruction step by step, everyone would be able to install and manage the INFECTUS MOD.
    • When you will be ready to install INFECTUS on a DVD DRIVE 078 XBOX360 FIRMWARE, the software will assist you with a 100% automated extraction of the key and the patch of new firmware.
    • WIZARD configuration based on XML for an automatical update of last firmwares.
    • X360 FIRMWARE checksum, the software will tell you if you are actually using the correct firmware (this feature is only available in WIZARD procedure)
    • HELP section to allow an easy searching of X360 firmwares

How to: extract firmware of your player using the S1fwx tool

Here are the instructions on how to extract the firmware of your MP3/MP4 player using the S1fwx tool.

Note: This is NOT fully supported for 9.x.x firmwares as it is not able to extract your firmware fully. Please make sure your player's firmware version is 3.x.x for this to work properly.

The S1fwx tool can be downloaded here. This will only work for ACTIONS chipset players (ones that play .AMV video files).

    1. Connect the player to your computer with the USB cable. Make sure your computer detects the player and a drive letter is allocated to your player from My Computer.

    2. Download the S1fwx tool here. There is no installation required, just extract it to a folder.

    3. Go the the folder that you extracted the S1fwx files.

    4. Double click on the "extract.bat" file.

    5. Press [enter] to let the software scan for your drive.

    6. You will see the following screen below. Check the line that says "detected drives" and confirm that it's the same drive as your MPx player.

    7. Press the drive letter that corresponds to your MPx player that is detected by the program. In this example, it's letter

    8. After you press the drive letter of your player, you will see th following screen:

    9. The S1fwx program will now read the flash:

    10. Once the S1fwx program finishes extracting the firmware, you will see the following:

Press the [enter] button to close it.

    11. Then the "unsafe removal of device" message comes up.

    Press the [OK] button.

    12. Go back to the folder that the S1fwx program is stored and you will now see a "dump.bin"
    file stored there.

    13. Now run the "repair.bat" file to prepare the file so it can be uploaded back into your player.

NOTE: If you do not run the "repair" on the your "dump.bin" file after extracting it using the S1fwx tool, then you will get ERRORS when trying to upload it to your player.

    14. Go back to the folder that the S1fwx program is stored and you will now see another new file, "dump.bi$". The "dump.bi$" file was the original "dump.bin" file from step #12. The NEW "dump.bin" file is now repaired and ready to be modified and uploaded back into your player.

    15. This new dump.bin is the backup of the firmware for your player, so keep it in a safe place. The dump.bi$ is not needed.

    16. Once you have extracted your firmware, you can read this Knowledge Base - How to: Modify your firmware using s1res tool to modify the firmware with your own images.

Huawei Ascend Y300 rooting without bootloader unlock

How-To Huawei Ascend Y300Rooting without bootloader unlock (no custom firmwares and no recovery)

    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2290610

Bootloader unlock (for rooting and custom firmware flashing)

    Direct from huawei: http://www.huaweidevice.com/worldwide/servicePolicy.do?method=toApplyUnlock
    Or

This method DOES NOT WORK. I've tried 5 different devices and each of them comes back with an error.

You have to email Huawei directly at mobile(shift-2)huawei.com with the same info. They'll email you back with the code. They're pretty fast at it too. Or using DC-Unlocker

The information is spread out throughout this very long thread. So here's how it worked for me.

Put your phone in USB Debugging mode. (Settings --> Developer Options

    1. Unlock bootloader. This must be done in order to install TWRP or any alternate firmware.

There are instructions about getting a code direct from Huawei, but this never worked for many of us. There is an easy way using the program DC-Unlocker. No cost.

    Download DC-Unlocker here: https://www.dc-unlocker.com/downloads
    Follow the instructions here: https://www.dc-unlocker.com/free-huawei-bootloader-unlock-tutorial

Download and install the Huawei drivers, if you haven't done so before.
    • Tip 1: Don't forget to change the 'Select Manufacturer' window to 'Huawei Phones'.
    • Tip 2: They tell you to press both Vol+ and Vol- together. Basically, just press in the middle of the long Volume button. The phone should boot up to the purple screen.
    • Tip 3: When finished, you have to pull your battery in order to get out of the purple screen.
Note the bootloader unlock code that DC-Unlocker displays.

    Custom recovery/firmware
** SIM unlock "might" not work on custom firmwares, so makes sure you have unlocked your SIM already on stock firmware (or have stock firmware backed up BEFORE jumping stock)

For those not well-versed in the geekier side of Android, here is a good guide to unlocking the bootloader, TWRP, Root, and installing a custom rom...

    http://www.modaco.com/topic/366286-guide-ascend-y300-100-b182-bootloader-unlock-twrp-root-custom-rom-flash/

Now go to this link: http://huawei-y300.tumblr.com/post/47366836617/how-to-unlock-and-root-huawei-ascend-y300-all

Under 'What you need', download the tool pack called 'Download 1.4'. Unzip the file.

Scroll further down the page to 'Step 2'. This will tell you how to unlock the bootloader and install TWRP.

    2. Install another firmware.

In this case, we will install FusionX which seems to work well.

    Download it here: http://www.directlinkupload.com/uploads/178.98.18.133/FusionX-B08-Y300-B199.zip

Copy the zip file to an SD card and insert into your phone.

Boot into TWRP by pressing Power and Vol+ at the same time for around10 seconds.
You have to clean out the data left by the previous firmware, so press 'Wipe'. Swipe the arrow at the bottom to the right.

Then press 'Advanced Wipe'. Check 'Davik Cache' and 'Cache'. Swipe the arrow to the right.

Go back 2 screens to the main screen. Select 'Install'.
Select the FusionX firmware from the list.

    https://www.dropbox.com/sh/r011q11zjapvigu/PTpcvjKWS9

    that's my folder of files.

    aokp 4.3
    supersu + root
    gapps for 4.3
    TWRP recovery
    all windows drivers

if anyone has any questions just ask.

notes on how to use each -

aokp 4.3 - flash in recovery. must be in latest twrp or CWM that is altered for android 4.3+. you must do a full wipe in recovery before installing this also.

supersu - flash in recovery. reboot. done. rooted. yay.

gapps - flash in recovery after you install any 4.3 rom and only after a fresh reboot.

    TWRP - install in fastboot.
to enter fastboot. remove battery. put back in hold power and vol - for 5 seconds until you get stuck at huawei logo. connect to pc. then do what you want.
to enter recovery. remove battery. put back in hold power and vol + for 5 seconds until you see the TWRP splash screen.

drivers - 2 driver packs. 1 for fastboot, storage mode and adb... the other for diagnostic, debugging and engineering.
double click huawei_g300_drivers.exe to install and for the other extract the entire folder and double click driversetup.exe

    After you unlock bootloader.
    download this. https://www.dropbox.com/s/9c9t5b3z8tda235/InstallTWRPY300.zip

Extract contents and double-click on install-windows and follow instructions on screen.
you can then flash this supersu+root zip to gain root.

I think that is what i did.

Here are more custom ROMs for the Y300.
    http://www.modaco.com/topic/365268-all-custom-roms-for-huawei-ascend-y300g510/

    SIM Unlock
** SIM unlock "might" not work on custom firmwares, so makes sure you have unlocked your SIM already on stock firmware (or have stock firmware backed up BEFORE jumping stock)

From ebay (http://www.ebay.ca/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=Huawei+Y300+unlock+code&_sop=15) (as low as C $4.35).
    or infamouskid (http://forums.redflagdeals.com/fs-bb-huawei-ascend-y300-prepaid-50-now-hot-1413934/22/#post17907253) (USD $5)

Oh, you didn't backup your stock ROM after all did you ? no problem ..

here is a repacked stock rom built for the y300-151
    https://www.dropbox.com/sh/61usc99y1jlv2bw/amXT_ERiQN

it is around 600 megs in size and debloated.
this is as close as we get to a full stock rom for now.
build.prop has been included. based on b194

until we get a proper release from huawei this will have to do as a proper fall back.
save the rom to external SD.
wipe everything... click advanced wipe...check mark system, data, cache, dalvik, android and internal sd. to be sure do it 3 times.
press back 2 times then press install. wait for it to complete.

    First in-thread cooked ROM:

I just build a custom Rom for me Based on the bell Stock Rom for the Y300-0151 Huawei Phone. I'D like to share it with you for those who want a better experience with the stock rom.

Since the rom is not avalaible yet, i've had to take the files from my TWRP backup. I had to rework the Cust Partition because i didn't backup it...
i'm not a skilled coder or a developer, i have learned how to do things by reading a lot on XDA Forum. So if you found bugs, not sure i'll be able to fix them. i'm using it for few days now and so far everything working fine... so let me know if you find something not working good and i'll see what i can do!!!

    Here's what i mod :
    • -Used Dsixda kitchen so Rooted, deodexed, zipalign, busybox,...
    • -Remove the Bell Crap
    • -Remove some huawei stuff like keyboard, backup app, DLNA,...
    • -Remove some Google Stuff like Books, magazines, Google Play music, Talk,... if u need some of them i can provide flashable zip
    • -Added many more languages
    • -Added battery Percent in notification bar
    • -Edit apn-conf.xml for North american Carrier
    • -Edit Build.prop (Tweaks)
    • -Replace Huawei file manager by ES File Explorer
    • -Added MX Video Player
    • -probably others i don't remember.
I know the huawei launcher sucks but i want to keep the rom as much stock as possible (if you want you can download new launcher and install it)

For people having problems with Swiftkey not sticking, found a workaround for this : Install the app, Backup it with Rom Toolbox Pro or Titanium Backup, uninstall the app, Restore from your backup, reboot, reconfigure swiftkey, should now stick after reboot...

    Instructions for installation :
    1. 1-Download the file Here (http://d-h.st/HV0)
    2. 2-Enter Recovery (Works with TWRP but not tested with CWM)
    3. 3-Wipe DATA, SYSTEM, CACHE, DALVIK, CUST
    4. 4-Install File
    5. 5-Reboot
    6. 6-Wait 10 Minutes
    7. 7-Reboot
    8. 8-Do first time setup
    9. 9-Update apps in playstore
    10. 10-Update binaries for Superuser
    Enjoy!

D-Link DIR-300 Original Firmware Flash Recovery

Finally found a way to flash back a DIR-300 (running DD-WRT) back to D-Link firmware. It is a great thing that they have included the emergency web server in the RedBoot. DD-WRT version of RedBoot had stripped it out though. So the first step is actually restoring the RedBoot to the one DIR-300 originally had.

Note: It seems like x will not be represented as alphabet “x” after copy and pasting. Do take note of this.

    Files that you need
    RedBoot file: Download file
board config: shadowandy_board_config.bin (refer to section Generating board config)

    Mirrors for RedBoot file
Noticed that D-Link Czech Republic and Poland has hosted the copy of my RedBoot. If you are having trouble downloading from my site. You can get them from these mirrors

    D-Link (Czech Republic)
    D-Link (Poland)

    Generating board config

Refer to this guide (Generating DIR-300′s board config) on how to generate the board config file shadowandy_board_config.bin. This step is necessary to restore wireless lan security functionality in the D-Link original firmware.

    Getting into Redboot
    1. Connect the network cable to your ethernet port and the WAN port of DIR-300.
    2. Configure your System IP address (static) to be 192.168.1.2/255.255.255.0.
    3. Prepare your telnet client to connect to 192.168.1.1, port 9000.
    4. Power on the DIR-300 and telnet in the instance your ethernet link is up. Hit Ctrl+C the moment you see Executing boot script in …
    5. You should be greeted by the DD-WRT prompt. DD-WRT>
Changing back to the original RedBoot
Ensure that you have extracted the file dir300redboot.rom into your TFTP server directory. Follow the following command to flash back to original RedBoot.

    DD-WRT> ip_address -h 192.168.1.2
    Default server: 192.168.1.2
    DD-WRT> fis init

    … Program from 0x80ff0000-0×81000000 at 0xbffe0000: .
    DD-WRT> reset
The router should reboot at this point of time. Wait for a while (30 seconds) before proceeding to the next section.

Preparing your system for board config recovery
    1. Connect the network cable to your ethernet port and the WAN port of DIR-300.
    2. Configure your System IP address (static) to be 192.168.20.80/255.255.255.0.
    3. Remove the power from DIR-300
    Flashing back the board config

Ensure that you have placed the file shadowandy_board_config.bin into the TFTP server directory. Follow the following instructions to flash back the board config partition.
    1. Ensure that the DIR-300 is not powered on
    2. Hold on to the reset button and power DIR-300 on
    3. Hold on to the reset button for about 30 seconds while DIR-300 is booting
    4. Telnet to 192.168.20.81 on port 9000 You should be greeted by RedBoot>
    5. Follow the following commands
    RedBoot> load -r -b %{FREEMEMLO} shadowandy_board_config.bin
    Using default protocol (TFTP)
Raw file loaded 0×80036400-0x800463ff, assumed entry at 0×80036400
    RedBoot> fwrite -f 0xbfff0000 -b 0×80036400 -l 0×10000 -e 0×80036400
About to write image into flash – continue (y/n)? y
    … Erase from 0xbfff0000-0xc0000000: .
    … Program from 0×80036400-0×80046400 at 0xbfff0000: .
    update image info..
    Update RedBoot non-volatile configuration – continue (y/n)? y
    RedBoot> reset
Note: For those who are interested. You can issue the command “x -b 0xbfff0000 -l 0×100″ and ensure that memory location content starts with “5311.}..Atheros”

Your router would reboot after the reset command.

    Preparing your system router recovery
    1. Download the D-Link firmware for DIR-300 from your respective region support page. For me, I would be downloading from DIR-300 firmware page at D-Link Singapore.

How-To MyBro DV-235T Green Packet Firmware Upgrade

First of all I would like to thanks Joker a friend from Visayas the person who donated me this myBro 4G WiMAX wireless modem router which is equip with WLAN unlike the Huawei CPEs that don't have. The "myBro wireless home broadband Dito tayo @ home" is the new product of   SmartBro that has been reBranded to myBro and uses Green Packet of Malaysia CPEs such as DV235T for indoor unit, OX230 for outdoor unit and the U series shuttle UH235 MiFi  portable modem.

If you have subscribed the promo of My Bro Abot Kaya 499 from PLDT and Smart recently then you probably will be so lucky and you will have also this device the myBro DV235T on your desk now. But unfortunately if you wanted to tweak this 4G wireless modem make some changes on the configuration such as port forwarding or fun of torrenting that needs administrator rights then you will be in trouble because the firmware is customized by Smart ISP. Inshort all subscriber of the Smart Telcos has limited access to their 4G WiMAX wireless broadband modem. You have to used the myBro DV235T as it is because no one ever leak the root username password or the admin username password, the only alternative is to upgrade this CPE with the Green Packet firmware v2.10.14-g1.0.4-gp to gain the administrative privileges.

So here's how-to Do-It-Yourself, first open any web browser and point to http://192.168.15.1 which is the default web graphical user interface (gui) IP address. Login with the default username and password as "smart" without quote.

After you have login navigate to the Menu Management then click the sub-menu Upgrade browse or locate were the Green Packet firmware you have saved and upload it on to the myBro DV235T CPE.

Upon clicking the Upload button the myBro Green Packet DV235T will show up a progress bar it will indicate that the firmware is being written wait until it finish. The CPE will reboot automatically in 60 seconds you will be prompted again with login page.

You will notice now the login page is no longer the myBro logo instead it is the greenpacket already which is the factory default firmware, another this is the default IP address for the web gui its http://10.1.1.254 and no longer http://192.158.15.1 so if set your PC as static IP address you must change it to DHCP otherwise you will be able to access the DV235T.

To be able to login the Green Packet DV235T after upgrading the firmware, the username and password is still "smart" as of the moment since we didn't save it yet permanently to the NAND flash memory Hynix H27U1G8F2BTR. Next navigate to Management menu, go to Recovery sub-menu and then  click Factory Default to make the firmware changes permanently.

The modem will then reboot automatically in 60 seconds again, you can now login with the default username and password as "admin" likewise when using the command line interface (cli) via telnet or ssh. The changes of tweaking the the myBro DV235T is now 101% possible, not only that even changing the MAC address of this CPE is even more applicable. Additionally you will now have the full access and full control of your 4G WiMAX wireless modem router with limitless privileges.

If you have you this kind of 4G WiMAX CPE in you and have doubt or hesitant to do so, feel free to comment just leave your message I will answer your queries. Enjoy!
